I was expecting to be vindicated in my middle-class woes. But I was surpised to find out that relative to American economic history, we seem to have it made.

I thought the quote “It’s not the high cost of living, it is the cost of living high” is very telling.
We try to teach our kids that it is not about having the most or having the best. Our society teaches the exact opposite – remember the bumper sticker from a few years ago – “He who dies with the most toys wins”
